Rabanne Ultraviolet Eau de Parfum is an iconic floral fragrance launched in 1999, created by perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. Its distinctive composition combines a spicy pepper opening with a powdery floral heart of violet, Japanese osmanthus and rose, while vanilla, patchouli, amber and cedar create a warm and sensual base. Known for its futuristic character and unmistakable violet profile, Ultraviolet has become a memorable fragrance from the late 1990s.

What does Rabanne Ultraviolet smell like?

Ultraviolet opens with a striking combination of pepper, orange pepper and pimento, creating a warm, spicy character from the very beginning. Rather than being a simple sweet floral, the spicy opening gives the fragrance an unusual and slightly futuristic edge.

As it develops, violet becomes the star of the composition, joined by Japanese osmanthus and rose. The violet gives Ultraviolet its recognisable powdery character, while osmanthus adds a soft, slightly fruity quality and rose rounds out the floral heart.

The dry-down becomes warmer and deeper, with vanilla adding creamy sweetness alongside patchouli and amber. Cedar adds a subtle woody dimension, giving the base more structure. The overall effect is powdery, floral, warm and distinctly violet, with spicy notes adding an unexpected contrast.

Discontinued Fragrance

Originally launched in 1999, Rabanne Ultraviolet has become a sought-after fragrance for those who remember its distinctive late-90s character as well as collectors looking for discontinued Rabanne releases.
